Table Talk: The three Valentinos go their separate ways

Cosimo Tricarino has split up his trio of trattorias named "Valentino." He's kept and enlarged Caffe Valentino, his simple BYOB at Third and Wharton Streets in Pennsport.

He's kept and enlarged

Caffe Valentino

, his simple BYOB at Third and Wharton Streets in Pennsport.

Tricarino sold Valentino Ristorante on Pine Street to Giorgio Giuliani, who last week opened it as

Giorgio on Pine

(1328 Pine St., 215-545-6265). Giuliani, formerly of Monte Carlo Living Room and Ristorante Primavera, has two grotto-style dining rooms at his BYOB. Primavera vet Chris Calvanese cooks meats and pastas, with everything under $20. It's open for lunch and dinner daily, plus Sunday brunch.

In a deal with Savona alumnus Filiberto Magnati, Tricarino has turned Valentino on the Square, just south of Rittenhouse Square, into

Di Vino Wine Bar

(267 S. 19th St., 215-545-0441), which has a liquor license, an Old World, old-time feel and solicitous service. The back room has a supper-club look: white piano and oversize booths. Menu from Michael Kirk, also a Savona alum, includes salads and small plates, such as Buffalo-style sweetbreads, pink peppercorn-crusted bluefin tuna, pan-seared skate wing, charcuterie, and smoked potato gnocchi. Everything is under $20. Wine list includes dozens by the glass. It's open nightly.

Out and around

Chinatown legend Joe Poon is up and running in Old City with

Joe's Peking Duck Original 1984

(108 Chestnut St., 215-922-0880) - it sounds clunky because he had sold off the name of Joe's Peking Duck House. If Poon's menu seems clunky, it's because of his Marco Poloesque fusion of Asian and Italian dishes. The storefront is the former Taipan, and much of the dark-lacquered, faintly Asian look is still present. Old friends are helping, including Tom Chen, a former sidekick, and Tony Kanjanakorn, former owner of Alisa Cafe. Everything is under $20, and until the liquor license gets straightened out it's BYOB. It's open for lunch and dinner Tuesdays through Sundays.

Tom and Stephen Finley from Finley's Catering and Joe Carney of Carney's in Cape May are looking at a Wednesday opening for

the Paddock at Devon

, replacing the John Harvard's at 629 W. Lancaster Ave. in Wayne.

Briefly noted

Roux 3

, the ambitious American in Newtown Square, has that out-of-here look after six years. It's dark and the phone rings to an answering machine advertising summer specials.

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse

has "Nov. 21" for its opening next to the Bonefish Grill at 500 Route 73 North in Marlton (856-988-1351).

Barely a month after a South Jersey restaurant week, a bunch of eateries are rolling out a deal called "Off the Hook." From Monday through next Thursday, 25 restaurants will offer four-course menus focused on local seafood and priced at $30 a person. List is at
