Tool time

These ostensible hand tools are imported from Takaoka, Japan, an artisanal metalworking center since the 17th century. At second glance, though, they've been recast (literally, they're cast iron), as manly bottle openers. They're coated with urushi, a black Japanese glaze that acts as a rust preventer. Perfect for a college guy turning 21. Or you favorite craft-beer geek.

Crisp cannoli

Serving cannoli at a party can put them at risk of losing their crunch. That's not an issue with this crowd-pleasing innovation from legendary Isgro Pastries: the Cannoli Chip and Dip tray. This clever twist on a classic flattens that crispy shell and accompanies it with three bowls of sweet filling, including ricotta chocolate chip, fresh vanilla cream and Italian chocolate cream. Each tray is made to order and can be customized.

The small serves about 15 and costs $34.75; the large tray serves about 30 and costs $69.50. Available at Isgro Pastries, 1009 Christian Street, 215-923-3092.
