Review: If the cooks in Applebee's kitchens can't execute a dish, the food stylists would do well not to make it look so darn delicious in the menu photos. That only leads to disappointment. Our serving of the chain's latest steak-and-seafood creation was pretty sad compared with its sizzling menu close-up. Tastewise, the dish and its measly accompaniments were passable but not fantastic. Aside from the chipotle spiciness, the food wasn't very flavorful. The steak was cooked to the right temperature, though, and the shrimp were OK.
Summary: Take our word for it: Go for an Applebee's classic like a burger or chicken tenders instead. Oh, and the Chain Gang would prefer that Applebee's doesn't add human hair to the dish, like they did for the Gang.
