THE COUNTDOWN has begun, but there's still plenty of time to get the perfect gifts for the workout fanatics you love. Not sure what to choose? Here are my five fabulous fitness gift suggestions to keep those on your list (and you!) in shape all year long - and in the comfort of your own home.

1. Keiser M3 Indoor Cycle

This is the best indoor bike I have ever had the pleasure of riding. The Keiser M3 delivers a real bike outdoor feel. But you can also listen to your music, a movie, or a podcast, all while simultaneously grinding your imaginary competition into the dust.

No matter the weather, this bike never disappoints. The Keiser M3 Cycle is sleek, attractive, and designed to last a lifetime. I call it the Lamborghini of indoor bikes - it's worth every penny.

The Keiser M3 is available at Amazon starting at $1,795 with free shipping.

2. Vertical dumbbell rack

If you're looking for a high-quality, durable, space-saving dumbbell organizer, get the TKO Vertical Dumbbell Rack. It will fit nicely in a corner and be a daily reminder to get your dose of iron. The rack will hold eight pairs of dumbbells from 3 to 30 pounds. The rack retails for about $340. Weights are not included.

3. Rubber hex dumbbells

Hands down, nothing beats dumbbells for weight training. They are efficient and effective, and can be used in myriad ways. There are many types of dumbbells, but I prefer the rubber hex design because it allows for an even greater variety of exercises. For example, you can do dumbbell rows in the push-up position, which would be nearly impossible with a round head dumbbell.

Prices vary widely, depending on manufacturer and size, but they start at about $6 each and go up to $300 or more.

4. Resistance bands

Never leave on a trip without packing your resistance bands! With them, your hotel room becomes your gym. And of course, they're great to use at home, too.

While it may sound too good to be true, you can actually get a full-body workout with these portable bands. They can be used in so many ways and come in various levels of resistance, from extra-light to extra-heavy. Expect to spend $25 to $40 for a set of resistance bands, depending on the manufacturer.

5. Heart rate monitor

There are so many heart rate monitors to choose from, but I stick with the original company, Polar. Polar heart rate monitors are a perfect gift for the novice as well as the experienced exerciser.

Depending on the model, the monitor displays your heart rate, date, time, average heart rate, exercise time, and calories burned, too. If you want to step up your fitness game, a heart rate monitor may be just the thing. Find Polar heart rate monitors at polar.com/us-en, or at local fitness retailers. Prices range from $45 to $520.
