DUI charges for woman who drove into SEPTA train
A West Philadelphia woman who drove her car into a moving SEPTA train Tuesday night has been charged with driving under the influence and two counts each of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, police said.
Tiffany Evans, 33, of the 5500 block of Master Street, was driving north on South 56th Street about 5 p.m. when she lost control of her 2001 Honda Civic and crashed through a fence near Hoffman Street, police said. Evans' car struck an inbound train on the Media/Elwyn rail line that was pulling into the Angora Station.
The impact injured Evans and two female passengers, police said. All three women were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
No one on the train was hurt. The accident caused an hour-long delay on the Media/Elwyn line.
