Philadelphia police are investigating the Friday-night slayings of two men, one of whom may have been stabbed by his brother.

Around 10:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing in a rowhouse on the 2300 block of West Sergeant Street.

Inside, they found Reginald Reed, 46, bleeding from a stab wound to his chest. He died shortly after midnight at Temple University Hospital.

Police said an initial investigation indicated Reed had been involved in a physical confrontation with his 60-year-old brother. Police did not say what the men might have been fighting over.

The older brother, whose name was not released, was taken into custody and questioned by homicide detectives, police said.

In Hunting Park, John McCorkle, 28, was shot to death in the street. Just before 11 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in the 4500 block of North Eighth Street in North Philadelphia and found McCorkle shot in the chest. He died shortly afterward, also at Temple University Hospital.

Police did not name a suspect or motive in McCorkle's killing.
