STATE COLLEGE - At the Student Town Hall Forum on Wednesday at Penn State's HUB-Robeson Center, Penn State president Rodney Erickson reiterated what he told Bloomberg News, that acting athletic director David Joyner will remain in his post until Erickson steps down, which could be in June 2013 or 2014.

"Dr. Joyner has provided excellent leadership for our programs," Erickson said.

Joyner was named the acting athletic director on Nov. 16 after athletic director Tim Curley went on leave in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal. When Joyner was a student at Penn State, he was both an All-American wrestler and football player as well as an Academic All-American. He served on the board of trustees from 2000 until his appointment as athletic director.

Erickson also said the next president should have the opportunity to "build their own team," and conduct a national search for the next athletic director, if he or she wishes, as Louis Freeh recommended in his investigative report.
