LeSean McCoy on Wednesday told reporters he wanted to "see what happens" after a report that the Eagles had reached out to the Buffalo Bills about a possible trade that would return the Pro Bowl running back to Philadelphia.

"I'm not going to get into that. That's between my agent and the guys upstairs to work that out," McCoy told reporters after practice Wednesday afternoon. "I should have never gotten traded anyway. I was killing stuff."

Rumors ran rampant on social media and sports talk radio on Tuesday after a CBS affiliate in Buffalo reported that the Eagles had reached out to the Bills about McCoy's availability.

But Sean McDermott, the Bills head coach and a former Eagles defensive coordinator, addressed the rumors during his weekly press conference before a single reporter was even able to ask a question.

"Just to get out in front of this LeSean thing a little bit here the best I could, as best I can, LeSean is one of our better players, thought he had a good game the other day, and we're just looking forward to playing the Houston Texans," McDermott said.

Despite downplaying the rumors, McDermott did not dismiss the report from WIVB that the Eagles had reached out about reacquiring McCoy, whom the team traded to the Bills back in 2015 during the tenure of former head coach Chip Kelly.

"You know, we get calls all the time, incoming calls happen all the time, [Bills GM] Brandon [Beane] and I talk a lot, and I won't go into any more detail than that," McDermott said. "I'm not the one fielding most of those calls because that falls more under Brandon's job description, so I would imagine they do; that's just kind of logical."

Rumors about the Eagles' desire to acquire a running back before the Oct. 30 trade deadline began to heat up Monday, when ESPN reported that the team had created much-needed salary-cap space by restructuring Fletcher Cox's contract. That report came shortly after the news that Jay Ajayi, the team's top running back, had been placed on injured reserve because of a torn ACL.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell has also been mentioned as a possible trade target for the Eagles. Bell told ESPN he wanted to stay in Pittsburgh and didn't think he would be traded before the deadline at the end of the month. But he said he expected the Eagles would be interested in him when he becomes a free agent during the next offseason.

When pressed by reporters later in the press conference, McDermott said he hadn't spoken to McCoy about the rumors and refused to go into more detail about any plans to trade the running back to anyone.

"This is why I came out and started where I started with. If you just want to hear the same reply, I'll give you the same reply," McDermott told reporters. "I respect where you're coming from and the jobs you have to do, but respect where I'm coming from. He's a valuable member of our football team, and I'm gonna leave it at that."

McCoy is involved in a legal dispute that includes allegations he orchestrated an assault and robbery in July at a house he owns in suburban Atlanta that left his estranged girlfriend, Delicia Cordon, bloodied and bruised.

Stephanie Maisonet, the mother of McCoy's 6-year-old son, LeSean Jr., filed an affidavit in Cordon's lawsuit claiming she agreed to help him deal with Cordon's allegations by acting as a "character witness" on his behalf. Maisonet also claimed that McCoy physically abused LeSean Jr.

McCoy has denied all the allegations and hasn't been punished by the NFL or the Bills. No charges have been filed.
