A 25-year-old man was in critical condition after being stabbed on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway just before the Eagles Super Bowl parade Thursday morning, according to police.
The victim, whom police did not identify, was stabbed once in the right side of the chest at 10:30 a.m. on the 2100 block of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, they said.
He was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital and placed in critical condition, they said. Police said no weapon had been recovered and no one had been arrested.
It was the most serious incident in an otherwise celebratory day in Philadelphia, one that was busy but largely routine for police. Authorities by Thursday evening had not released parade-related arrest totals — or said if there were any — but there were no reports of vandalism, property destruction, or widespread violence.
