Tyrese Maxey made his first appearance on late-night TV on Tuesday night, going on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon to talk about the Sixers and his season.

“Man, I’m getting there,” Maxey said about the injury to his right little finger open the segment. “I’m close.”

On March 10, the Sixers said that Maxey would be reevaluated in three weeks. Maxey wore just a small finger cast.

He gave a big shout-out to Philly, but with his parents in the building for the show, he had to be honest about his Dallas roots.

“My dad wouldn’t let me back in his house if I was a full-on Eagles fan, but when they’re not playing the Cowboys, I love ’em.”

Fallon was shocked that someone as young as Maxey could be taking on a leadership role on the team, to which Maxey replied: “First of all, I’m old now. I’m 25.”

Now in his sixth NBA season, Maxey was asked if he still geeked out facing his childhood heroes on the court.

“When I’m in the game, it’s like, I’ve got to cook these people,” Maxey joked. “It’s my job.”

He teased his forthcoming signature shoe with New Balance, which he called a “dream come true,” although he didn’t share details on the release date or the design.

In the final segment, Fallon asked Maxey, a big Marvel fan, to list his NBA Avengers. He went with himself, Donovan Mitchell, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Isaiah Stewart, LeBron James, and Luka Dončíč.
