Predicting the NBA and NHL playoff matchups taking place Saturday

I’ll begin with the NBA, which sees the Magic vs Cavaliers and Suns vs Timberwolves tip off the postseason. The Cavaliers defeating the Magic in four of five games is one of my most confident picks. The Suns vs Timberwolves is incredibly tough to call, but I’ll go Minnesota winning Saturday.

The 76ers vs Knicks and Lakers vs Nuggets cap off Saturday’s action. I have the Knicks winning game one due to the uncertainty over Joel Embiid’s health. The Lakers are a tough matchup for the Nuggets, but I’m confidently backing Denver to win game one at home.

In the NHL, just two games kickstart the postseason Saturday. The Islanders take on the Hurricanes while the Maple Leafs battle the Bruins. I’m confident in Carolina to win their game and win the series in short order. Toronto vs Boston is tough for me, but I’ll go with Boston in game one ahead of seeing how this matchup plays out.
