The Lieb House leaving the Shore
With two TV helicopters hovering overhead, a documentary film crew working on the ground, and a contingent of Long Beach Island locals calling the play by play, Barnegat Light's most famous beach cottage was rolled onto an ocean barge today.
Barnegat Light - With two TV helicopters hovering overhead, a documentary film crew working on the ground, and a contingent of Long Beach Island locals calling the play by play, Barnegat Light's most famous beach cottage was rolled onto an ocean barge today.
Robert Ventura and Denise Scott Brown's 1964 Lieb House became the SS Lieb as it was prepared this morning for a journey to the north shore of Long Island, N.Y. It escaped demolition in January and is being moved to a lot owned by a couple living in another Venturi home.
The Lieb house is not likely to leave the Barnegat inlet until 6 p.m. today, timed to make sure it arrives under New York City bridges in time for the Friday morning rushhour. It will travel at speeds of 4-10 mph, pulled by two tugs.
