Notre Dame might be without its three top receivers Saturday when the Fighting Irish play Navy in the Meadowlands.

Coach Brian Kelly said Tuesday that speedy slot receiver Theo Riddick, who is second on the team in catches, is out with a severely sprained right ankle that has been placed in a cast.

Notre Dame already had lost star tight end Kyle Rudolph for the season with a torn hamstring that required surgery last Friday.

Leading receiver Michael Floyd, who had three TD catches Saturday against Western Michigan while playing with a sore hamstring, likely will not practice this week, Kelly said. His status will be a game-time decision.

Nebraska's Paul stays cool. Already down after he dropped two TD passes against Texas, Nebraska's Niles Paul felt worse after a group of Cornhusker fans taunted him on the way to his car after Saturday's 20-13 loss.

Paul said he had to keep his cool and resist the urge to go after the hecklers. He also deactivated his Facebook page Saturday night because several nasty messages appeared.

'Cats' Cobb sorry for tweets. Kentucky wide receiver Randall Cobb apologized for using Twitter to lash out at fans following an upset of South Carolina last weekend.

Cobb chastised fans for coming late, leaving early, and being more concerned about the school's basketball team.

He said it took him "two or three minutes" after sending the tweets to realize he had spoken irresponsibly. He almost immediately removed the messages.

Purdue injuries. Purdue quarterback Robert Marve and wide receiver Keith Smith have undergone knee surgeries.

UConn's Kuraczea withdraws. Connecticut guard Erik Kuraczea, who worked his way back into the starting lineup after serving a monthlong suspension, has withdrawn from school for personal reasons.
