A 54-year-old woman was fatally shot while sitting in her car early Sunday in the Hunting Park section of the city, police said.

The shooting occurred about 12:20 a.m. on the 3900 block of North 13th Street. Police said the woman was shot several times in the chest and face as she sat in the driver’s seat of her white 2011 Volkswagen convertible. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Police on Monday identified the victim as Janis Walke and said she lived on that block.

They reported no arrests, and no weapon was recovered. A motive for the shooting was not known.

Walke had worked as a per diem Philadelphia School District police officer from September 2008 to June 2012, according to district records.
