A little beer, a little bocce in South Philly

Cosimo Tricarico, whose restaurant holdings include Caffe Valentino in South Philadelphia, is applying to the Liquor Control Board to transfer his Center City beer license to a former medical office building across the street from the restaurant, in Pennsport.
Tricarico tells me that his girlfriend, Heather Cox, wants to operate a beer garden called Pennsport Beer Boutique at 242 Wharton St., where Third Street, Wharton Street, and Moyamensing Avenue meet.
"She plans to landscape it," Tricarico says. "She'll have snacks, some tables, some bottle beer, and a bocce court in the middle of it all. Make it nice for the neighborhood."
He said she will present her plan Wednesday night to Pennsport Civic Association.
