A who's-who list at Great Chefs Event

This year's Great Chefs Event - the 10th - comes off the evening of Tuesday, June 9. More than 40 chefs and beverage pros from around the country will set up stations to feed the expected 1,200 people. The after-party will be held at the Vetri Family's nearby Lo Spiedo.

In 2006, Marc Vetri and Jeff Benjamin assembled chefs for an evening ambitiously called the Great Chef's Event. It was a fundraiser for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

In successive years, it snowballed. In 2010, Urban Outfitters offered its headquarters at the Navy Yard, and more than a thousand people showed up. Its beneficiaries are now Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation and the Vetri Foundation for Children. Last year's event raised about $1.1 million, including admissions, sponsors and proceeds from auctions.

This year's outing - the 10th - comes off the evening of Tuesday, June 9 at Urban Outfitters. More than 40 chefs and beverage pros from around the country will set up stations to feed the expected 1,200 people. The after-party will be held at the Vetri Family's nearby Lo Spiedo.

General-admission tickets (link is here) are $350 per person; VIP tickets include access to the after-party and cost $525.

Several of this year's participating chefs have also been named finalists in the 2015 James Beard Foundation Awards, including Vetri himself for Outstanding Chef and regional Best Chefs finalists Matthew Accarrino (SPQR), Jon Shook & Vinny Dotolo (Animal), Jonathon Sawyer (Trentina), Marco Canora (Hearth), Alon Shaya (Shaya), and Michael Cimarusti (Providence).
