Brewpub is planned for Frankford Ave. in Fishtown

An entrepreneur sees charm in a former elevator factory that has had its share of up and mostly downs.

As if Fishtown isn't hopping with restaurant and bar activity:

Plans for a brewpub are coming together at what was for many years a blighted building at Frankford Avenue and Wildey Street - not far from the Fillmore, a block or so south of Girard, and across the street from Barcade.

It's still in the preliminary stages.

Jack Lyons, who lives in Northern Liberties and was part of the opening group at 20 Horse Tavern in Camden, said he was doing his due diligence on the building at 1101 Frankford Ave., which in the 19th century was a hosiery mill and more recently was an elevator factory. (As such, the building has had its ups and downs in recent years.)

Lyons' plans include a full kitchen, a pizza oven, and a full bar with liquor and wine and other beers - not just the house-brewed beers. There's no name yet.

Stay tuned.
