Jon Stewart's potshot at Camden
He cracks wise while introducing a Dan Rather war story.
Oh, that Jon Stewart.
The Comedy Central host, who grew up in Lawrenceville, N.J., was introducing Dan Rather to the Daily Show on Monday to talk about U.S. strategy in Afghanistan, which has changed from fighting everywhere to focusing on the populated areas.
Stewart played a clip of the newsman, in camo, riding in a military vehicle in Afghanistan while doing a voiceover about the dangerous surroundings.
As the tape stopped, Stewart opined:
"Actually, it looked a little bit like Camden, New Jersey, quite frankly," Stewart said.
Camden Mayor Gwendolyn Faison told me today that she had not seen the clip but had heard about it: "If this is what I heard, let Camden get the same attention as Afghanistan."
