Reading Terminal produces a new tenant for Rick's Steaks

The historic market will move Fair Food Farmstand into the primo spot on the 12th Street side.

Reading Terminal Market says it's moving Fair Food Farmstand into the 12th Street spot from which it evicted Rick's Steaks. "We want to reinforce the market's mission as a historic farmer's market," RTM manager Paul Steinke told me today. In five years, the farmstand has grown from an 8-foot folding table into a serious seller of regionally grown produce.

No timetable is set yet.

Nature abhors a vacuum. Rick's was the Market's main full-time steak stand. (You can get them at the Down Home Diner and Dutch Eating Place restaurants, and Spataro's added them in late 2006.)

Steinke says By George! and Carmen's will begin to install grills and ductwork to enable them to sell steaks. By George!, whose concept is Mediterranean, will offer toppings such as artichokes.

As for Rick's owner Rick Olivieri, he said today he's still looking for a new location.
