Restaurant notes: Tweed gone

It lasted a year.

Tweed, the stylish bilevel bistro at 114 S. 12th St., is closed after exactly a year.

The curtains are drawn over the windows. But much of the interior -- which restaurateur Eddie Bianchini spent a fortune on -- was effectively stripped last weekend.

Banquettes? Gone. The bar? Torn out. Soda lines cut. Not only were the TVs taken from the bar, their mountings were removed, too. Even the high hats were taken from the ceiling.

I caught up with Bianchini, who said he had "problems" with the landlord, Howard Taylor. He declined to elaborate.

Taylor declined to comment yesterday, though today he laid out a litany of woe to Philadelphia Magazine.
