Restaurant notes: Corner-ing the market on kitchen talent

Corner, the replacement for APO/Apothecary, has not only Scott Swiderski in the kitchen.

Scott Swiderski, who left the exec chef's post at Buddakan in June, has surfaced at The Corner, the replacement for APO/Apothecary at 13th and Drury in Center City. Tony Rim, who had an ownership of APO and still owns the nearby Raw, maintains his interest.

The Corner, a comfort-fooder, is due to open the weekend of Dec. 17-18, Swiderski said.

Swiderski has taken on John "Chainsaw" Taus, whose last stop was Snackbar on Rittenhouse Square, as sous chef.

Also on the kitchen team is Pat Szoke, now working at Vetri. (This town is small: Taus worked for Swiderski at Buddakan, and Szoke worked with Taus at Tangerine.)
