The Penn campus will get a restaurant early next year that will, in the words of operators Marty and Sydney Grims, feature traditional menu items found in cafes, bistros, and brasseries throughout France, Italy, Spain, and North America.

Louie-Louie will replace Penne, which closed in June at the Inn at Penn (3611 Walnut St.).

The Grimses — father and daughter — also own the campus landmark White Dog Cafe, a few blocks away on Sansom Street.

And if the early menu description seems a bit vague, at least the look and feel should be easier to define.

They have retained Rohe Creative (Harp & Crown, Bud & Marilyn's), known for sumptuous dining rooms, to execute an art nouveau-inspired interior (150 seats). It will flow into an expanded outside seating area (50 seats) and will include new landscaping.

Louie-Louie will operate seven days a week, serving lunch and happy hour on weekdays, dinner and late-night dining daily, as well as brunch on weekends and holidays.

As Fearless Restaurants, the Grimses also run the Moshulu Restaurant on Penn's Landing, White Dogs in Wayne and Haverford, Autograph Brasserie in Wayne; and Plantation Restaurant, Daddy O Restaurant & Hotel, and Tuckers Tavern on Long Beach Island, N.J.
