Manayunk has two newcomers:

Ryan's Pub on Main Street (4301 Main St., 267-310-0770) is the handsome revamp of Flat Rock Saloon at the hands of brothers Paul and Patrick Ryan, part of the family business that also owns Smokey Joe's in University City, PJ Ryan's Pub in Phoenixville, and Ryan's Pub in West Chester. Old-time pub decor, 20 beers on tap, and a menu from chef Robert Williams (last at the Radnor Hotel and its Glenmorgan Bar & Grill) that features pizza as well as pub favorites. It's open noon to 2 a.m. daily.

Momokawa (4371 Main St.) — the former Gigi Italian Bistro — is now a 15-seat Japanese izakaya from Jason Kim, who has been on a streak with openings. Kim, who started with Jason's Toridasu in Ardmore over the summer, opened a noodle concept called @Ramen at 4357 Main St., which later this month he plans to bring to Center City at 1608 Sansom St. Momokawa, now in a soft-opening phase with sushi rolls and some kitchen dishes, is open after 5 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday as it awaits a liquor license. Kim also plans to open a Jason's Toridasu branch at the Presidential City apartments (3900 City Ave.) and is in talks to open an @Ramen next to the Panera Bread location on City Avenue at Monument Road.

Christmas bar

Teddy Sourias and Craft Concepts Group have taken over the just-shuttered Simpson's jewelry store next door to Finn McCool's Ale House at 12th and Sansom Streets with Tinsel Christmas Pop-up Bar, a temporary taproom at 116 S. 12th St. that's decorated from top to bottom in lights and tchotchkes. It will be open only through Dec. 31, when it will go out with a party. Sourias and his partners are planning something more permanent in the building. Designer Scott Johnston has created a custom mural. The two main rooms are built around the former jewelry store vault, which is topped by a glowing fireplace art installation. There are community high-top wooden counters, a 25-foot bar along the former jewelry counter, and 12 bar stools at the main bar. Sourias, who also owns BRU Craft & Wurst, Cinder, U-Bahn, and Uptown Beer Garden, is looking at a late-winter opening of Tradesman's, at 1322 Chestnut St., next to U-Bahn and BRU. Hours hours are from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 2 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Restaurant week returning

Four restaurants — Nom Nom Sushi & Ramen in Rittenhouse, Six Feet Under in Washington Square West, and the two Jasmine Rice locations (Rittenhouse and Old City) — will make their first appearances with Center City District Restaurant Week when the promotion returns Jan. 14 to 26 for its winter edition. Most of the 127 participating restaurants will include special menus on Saturday, Jan. 20, as well. The deal: three-course lunches at many restaurants for $20 and three-course dinners for $35, as well as $9 parking tabs and $10 Lyft discounts. Details are at www.centercityphila.org.
