If you've been touring the sites at Independence Mall, or are just back in town visiting family, a holiday splurge does not get more Philadelphia than the Brotherly Love shake at Craftsman Row Saloon. It's co-owner George Tsiouris' frozen homage to the corner candy store favorites of his youth. And it's essentially a Mummers Parade of classic local sweets all whirred up into one irresistibly frosty mug, blending Jack & Jill vanilla ice cream with Hershey's syrup, a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, a Tastykake chocolate cupcake and a Tastykake peanut butter Kandy Kake. The other half of those Tastykake two-packs arrive skewered whole on top for a festive Philly pride garnish, along with Goldenberg's Peanut Chews, and a warm, soft Amish pretzel stick from Miller's Twist in the Reading Terminal Market that adds a salty dipper to plunge through the chocolate-drizzled whipped cream. Of course, they don't call Craftsman a "saloon" for nothing. All of its many fanciful shakes can be turned "adult" with a shot of a locally made spirit ($4 extra for a 1.5-ounce pour of Stateside vodka or Manatawny whiskey). Then it will really taste like a Mummers Parade in a glass.
