New Jersey State Police identified a man who was found dead Wednesday in the Delaware River off Bordentown, in Burlington County, as that of a 29-year-old Somerset County man who had gone swimming in nearby waters on Sunday.

The man was identified as Henry Alberto of the 600 block of Somerset Street in Somerset, said Capt. Stephen Jones of the New Jersey State Police.

Jones said Alberto's first name was initially listed as Juan.

On Sunday, Alberto, who was on a boat, had gone into the Delaware River near Bordentown and tried to swim to land, but disappeared in the water, police said.

About 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, a boater found his body in the Delaware River, at the mouth of the Crosswicks Creek near the Bordentown boat ramp.

State police retrieved his body. His death was believed to be an accidental drowning, Jones said.
