A 31-year-old man was arrested early Friday, hours after he allegedly shot his parents in their Tinicum Township, Delaware County, home, killing his father and wounding his mother, police said.

Police found Matthew Hox hiding in woods about a block from the home about 3 a.m., officials said.

Hox shot his father, Henry, 77, and mother, Donna, 62, around 8 p.m. Thursday following an argument in their home on the 400 block of Iroquois Street, authorities said.

Henry Hox was pronounced dead at the scene. Donna Hox was taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where she was able to speak to investigators, according to 6ABC.

Matthew Hox was charged with murder, aggravated assault, and related offenses. He was ordered to be held without bail at the Delaware County jail.

Tinicum Township Police Chief Steve Edmiston said detectives found a weapon in the house. He said the nature of the argument was not yet known.

The shooting was the second in eight days in the Philadelphia suburbs in which a son allegedly targeted his parents.

On Sept. 19, Bruce Rogal killed his parents, William, 89, and Nancy, 87, in a Chester County nursing home before killing himself to end a shooting spree that began when he shot at his ex-wife.
