West Chester reaches Atlantic softball Super Regionals

Kutztown scored four runs in the ninth inning to earn an extra-inning, 4-0 victory over Bloomsburg in another regional final in Shippensburg, Pa. The Golden Bears (32-21) advance to their second straight appearance in the Atlantic Super Regionals and will play host West Chester (37-19) on Friday in the opener of a best-of-three series. The winner will advance to the national championships in Salem, Va., beginning May 23.

In Babson Park, Mass., Rowan won two games in its NCAA Division III regional. In the first game, the Profs beat Springfield (Mass.), 5-0, with Jennifer Arcella hitting a two-run homer in the first inning.

In the second game, Rowan's Alysa Romero (Vineland) hit the winning homer in the bottom of the sixth inning of a 2-1 win over Babson. Rowan (41-8) will play Tufts (41-3) for the regional title on Monday.

In Galloway, N.J., Richard Stockton (33-11) won the ECAC Metro championship with a 7-1 victory over FDU-Florham in the semifinals and a 7-2 triumph over Sage in the title game.

Ivy League champion Penn will face Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, in an NCAA Division I Regional at 6 p.m. Friday. The game will be televised on ESPN2. The other teams playing in the double-elimination regional are Arizona and Baylor.

Baseball. Stefan Kancylarz (Lenape) went 3 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs, and Greg Kumpel added a homer and three RBIs, but St. Joseph's fell to host St. Louis, 11-10.

The teams combined for 21 runs and 32 hits.

The Hawks (26-23, 12-9 Atlantic Ten) wrap up their regular season with a three-game homestand against Rhode Island starting Thursday.
