Public League games to watch
A look at some of the most compelling games on this season's football schedule.
* Sept. 13: Imhotep at Roxborough, 3 p.m.: The Indians have started the season 2-0 and are at home, while Imhotep is also 2-0 and flying higher than Willie Penn's hat.
* Sept. 14: Franklin vs Mastery North, 6, at NW Supersite: These two are sitting atop 3A, but somebody's 0 will go.
* Sept. 19: Lincoln at Southern, 6: This could decide the winner of the 4A Silver Division.
* Sept. 20: Mastery North at Gratz, 6: Last season, these rivals played three times. The Bulldogs won regular season and playoff, while MN won on Thanksgiving.
* Sept. 26: Franklin at Dobbins Tech, 3: Who runs the Northside? The Electrons already won at Gratz. Are the Mustangs next?
* Oct. 4: Central at Northeast, 3: The oldest rivalry in high school sports is always a game of note, even during the regular season.
* Oct. 4: Frankford at Washington, 6:30, at Northeast: Game 2 of the Northeast doubleheader is a repeat of the Pub 4A title game.
* Oct. 18: Northeast at Washington, 3: The Battle of the Northeast is always spirited and hotly contested.
* Oct. 19: Prep Charter at Imhotep, 6 at NW Supersite: This is the Huskies' Super Bowl, since they are banned from playoff action and they may well come into this Mount Airy night undefeated.
* Oct. 26: Franklin at King, 6, at NW Supersite: The Cougars were the preseason favorite in 3A, but the Electrons have crashed the party.
