NBC Sports Philadelphia announced Tom Haberstroh as the new sideline reporter for its 76ers coverage on Thursday, ahead of the team’s final preseason game on Friday.

Haberstroh will make his Sixers broadcast debut on Friday before his first regular season game on Oct. 24.

Haberstroh has over a decade of experience covering the NBA for national and regional stations, starting in 2010 when he began covering the Miami Heat for ESPN. He’s coming off three seasons as the analytics insider for the Portland Trail Blazers TV broadcasts, work for which he won a regional Emmy in 2024. Before his time with the Blazers, Haberstroh worked as the national NBA reporter for NBC Sports Regional Networks, which included work for NBC Sports Philadelphia, from 2018 to 2020.

“Tom brings a rare combination of deep NBA knowledge, sharp analysis and an ability to connect the numbers to the stories that matter most to fans,” Alexandra Matcham, NBC Sports Philly’s vice president of content, said in a release. “We’re excited to welcome him back to NBC Sports Philadelphia and add his distinctive voice to our 76ers coverage.”

Haberstroh also has a presence in the podcasting world, as a contributor for Yahoo! Sports coverage and contributes to podcasts outside of the NBA. He’s a cofounder of the Count The Dings podcast network and has cohosted a podcast devoted to the TV show Top Chef called Pack Your Knives.

He also is an advocate for ALS initiatives, including the #ALSPepperChallenge, which he launched in 2017 in honor of his late mother, which has since raised approximately $1 million for ALS research. He also has a basketball-focused ALS initiative, Hoops4ALS.

Amy Fadool, who’s currently a host and reporter for NBC Sports, will serve as a sideline reporter for some games while leading the Sixers Pregame Live and Sixers Postgame Live shows.

Following LeBron James signing with the Sixers in July, Matcham told The Inquirer that NBC Sports Philadelphia was budgeting to add additional talent to the team in hopes of avoiding burnout for those who will spend the season reporting closely on James and the Sixers.
