Sixers shoot into the top 10 of Forbes’ NBA franchise valuations
During "The Process" 10 years ago, they were valued at $700 million. Now, Forbes estimates their value in the billions.

In 2016, amid “The Process” era, the 76ers were valued at $700 million by Forbes. At the time, they ranked 28th in NBA franchise valuations. Ten years later, the team’s value has skyrocketed.
On Oct. 16, Forbes released its annual list of the most valuable NBA franchises. The Sixers were ninth at $6.4 billion, bringing in an annual revenue of $529 million. The business outlet also calculated the average revenue per fan by dividing the annual revenue among Philadelphia’s metro population. That number came out to be $46.
The league has had unparalleled growth since the pandemic. The average team value this year is $6.1 billion, a 147% increase from 2021’s average value of $2.5 billion. For the fifth consecutive year, the Golden State Warriors topped the list with a worth of $13.5 billion. For reference, the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL’s most valued franchise, are valued at $17 billion.

The Sixers are 1-0 after a season-opening win over the New York Knicks and are coming off a huge offseason in which they acquired former Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown in a trade and signed all-time great LeBron James. Their valuation is expected to grow in the coming years because of a new arena being built in South Philadelphia in 2030. Flyers’ ownership group, Comcast Spectacor, currently owns Xfinity Mobile Arena with the Sixers as tenants. However, the Sixers’ ownership group, Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment will be 50-50 partners with Comcast Spectacor in the new venue. According to Forbes, the Sixers’ current stadium setup makes up 19.5% of the franchise’s evaluation.
