What I Do
I cover issues and trends affecting colleges. If it happens on campus, I'm interested.
My Background
I've covered education, both K-12 and colleges, for most of my career, including my previous jobs at the Morning Call in Allentown and the Times Leader in Wilkes-Barre. I believe covering education is like covering our future, and there's nothing more important. I started at The Inquirer in 1998. reporting on the Philadelphia School District for a decade. I began covering higher education in 2008. In 2012, I was part of a team that won the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for an investigation into violence in the city schools. I'm a native of Allentown and got my bachelor's degree in journalism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, one of the schools in the state system. I enjoy craft brews, long walks in pretty places, and spending as much time as possible on the beach.
