The Eagles and Dallas Goedertpushed their decision deadline on the tight end's future to Monday. It was originally earlier this week, and had previously been moved back to Friday.
Latest on A.J. Brown trade talks and how they could be linked to Dallas Goedert decision
The salary cap deadline for tight end Dallas Goedert is also linked to the potential of an A.J. Brown trade, according to the NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. The deadline was originally moved back to Friday, but it has again been delayed, this time until Monday.
If Goedert isn't re-signed by the deadline, it will trigger about $20.5 million in dead money against the Birds' cap. And if they trade A.J. Brown before June 1, the salary cap hit would be around $43.5 million, compared to less than $20 million if they wait.

Dallas Goedert decision deadline moved again
The Eagles and Dallas Goedert are continuing to kick the can down the road on his future with the team.
A league source confirmed a report from The Athletic that the Eagles and Goedert are pushing the void date on his contract with the Eagles to Monday. The deadline was previously extended from Wednesday to Friday afternoon, but no resolution was reached.
The move allows the Eagles to continue negotiating a new deal with Goedert. If a deal isn’t reached, the Eagles would need to release him, a move that would trigger a dead cap hit of more than $20 million.

New Eagles defender Riq Woolen has a lot at stake this season
Riq Woolen isn’t one to move in silence. As soon as the new Eagles cornerback sat down for his introductory news conference at the Jefferson Health Training Complex on Thursday, he made that point loud and clear.
“Good afternoon,” Woolen said, then paused a beat for responses from the local media. The tepid replies weren’t up to Woolen’s standards.
“Y’all are in here asleep. Wake up,” Woolen said with a smile.

Eagles add LB Arnold Ebiketie and CB Jonathan Jones
In the aftermath of Jaelan Phillips’ departure for the Carolina Panthers, pass rush help is on the way to Philadelphia.
The Eagles have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with former Atlanta Falcons outside linebacker Arnold Ebiketie, according to ESPN. The deal is reportedly worth up to $7.3 million with $4.3 million guaranteed.
Ebiketie, 27, just finished his rookie contract with the Falcons, the team that selected him No. 38 overall in the 2022 draft out of Penn State. He has primarily served as a rotational player throughout his four-year career in Atlanta, never eclipsing more than 50% of the defensive snaps in any of his four seasons. But he has plenty of pass-rush upside, combining for 16½ sacks in that span, including six sacks in both 2023 and 2024.

The clock is ticking on Dallas Goedert
The Eagles have Friday to come to a deal with tight end Dallas Goedert, otherwise the eight-year veteran will become a costly free agent.
The Birds certainly have incentive to sign Goedert, who the team drafted in the second round of the 2018 draft. If Goedert ends up becoming a free agent, it will trigger about $20.5 million in dead money against the Eagles' cap.
The team also needs a No. 1 tight end like Goedert after re-signing Grant Calcaterra and signing Johnny Mundt, a top blocker.
Azeez Ojulari, linebacker: Ojulari is returning home on a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons, according to the NFL Network.
Joshua Uche, linebacker: Uche agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. It’ll be his fourth team in three years.
Matt Pryor, offensive line: First drafted by the Birds in 2018, Pryor returned to the Eagles last season and played a fair amount, including starting one game. Now he’s headed to the Arizona Cardinals on a one-year deal, according to NFL Network.
Jaelan Phillips, linebacker: The highly-sought edge rusher agreed to terms with the Carolina Panthers on a four-year, $120 million deal, $80 million of which is guaranteed, according to ESPN.
The fan base is alarmed. The talking heads are puzzled. The influencers are twisting themselves in knots to explain why nothing is as it seems.
Bad news, folks. Everything is exactly as it seems. An old friend once said that if it quacks like a duck and acts like a duck, then it probably is a duck. Same goes for a capped-out football team that knows now might be the best time to take its medicine. Which is what the Eagles are.
