What started as a slip has turned into a spiral for the 2-5 Eagles, who have now dropped five straight games with a roster that is battered and bruised.

And that’s reflected in the national power rankings, where the Eagles sit among the bottom 10 teams in the NFL following a 38-21 loss to their division rival Dallas Cowboys on Monday.

The Eagles have another NFC East matchup against the Commanders on Sunday Night Football (8:20 p.m., NBC). Here’s how they rank across several outlets heading into Week 8.

ESPN: 23rd

Moving down two spots, the Eagles fell to 23rd on the ESPN Power Rankings.

And even though there has been a lot that has gone wrong for the Eagles, ESPN’s Tim McManus sees a bright spot in the Eagles offense: Wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks, who they acquired in April through a trade with the Packers.

“He quickly established himself as the No. 2 wideout behind DeVonta Smith, ranked second on the team in receiving yards (284), first in catches that resulted in a first down (16) and tied for first in receptions of 20-plus yards (three),” McManus wrote. “An ankle injury sidelined him for Monday night’s game against the Cowboys.”

Monday night was the first game Wicks has missed this season and he is listed as questionable for Week 8.

The Athletic: 23rd

With Halloween on Saturday, The Athletic was celebrating early by finding something spooky with each team in its power rankings. The Eagles, who fell from 20th last week to 23rd, gave Josh Kendall and Chad Graff a lot to choose from.

The Birds may have even presented Graff and Kendall with too many options, leaving them with no choice but to name “this whole season” as the scariest thing about the Eagles right now.

“Make it five straight defeats in a season that’s quickly unraveling following the loss of Jalen Hurts,” Graff and Kendall wrote. “The offense is a shell of its former self. Even the Vic Fangio-led defense struggled on Monday night, forcing just two punts from the Cowboys, while allowing more than 400 yards of offense.”

Bleacher Report: 24th

Bleacher Report moved the Eagles down one spot to 24th heading into Sunday’s matchup against the Commanders.

Moe Moton was quick to point out how the Eagles remained competitive with backup quarterback Tanner McKee, who appeared more comfortable against the Cowboys.

“Philadelphia is in a lost season, though,” Moton wrote. “McKee won’t salvage it, and Saquon Barkley couldn’t finish the game because of a back injury. The Eagles are free-falling in the power rankings following a fifth consecutive loss, and they should be sellers at the trade deadline.”

Yahoo! Sports: 26th

Yahoo! Sports is the only outlet on this list that has the Birds moving up in the rankings, with a small bump from the 27th spot last week.

But that didn’t mean Frank Schwab was holding back in his assessment of a team “that started the season with legitimate hope of being a Super Bowl contender” and now ”could end up with a top-five draft pick in April."

“There is still enough talent on the roster to be competitive in games, but the effort in the second half against Dallas wasn’t inspiring,” Schwab wrote. “Young teams can sometimes play well in the second half of the season as they keep fighting, like the Saints did last season. That usually doesn’t happen for teams that have recently won a championship, were expected to compete for another this season and are already out of the race before the end of October.”

NFL.com: 28th

The lowest ranking from the Eagles this week came from NFL.com’s Nick Shook, who has Philly as a bottom five team at 28th, for the second week in a row.

“This team is incredibly banged up and likely brought Saquon Barkley back into the fold too quickly (out of desperation, of course), and it probably maximized the returns this current offense is capable of delivering when scoring 21 points on Monday night,” Shook wrote. “Two lifeless possessions served as a harsh reality check, which lands even harder when reviewing the Philadelphia defense’s poor showing in prime time. It’s honestly difficult to find a path out of this mess that doesn’t include a collection of losses, but at least the Eagles still play respectably competitive football for most of their games.”
