First-round picks Cam York, Jay O’Brien among Flyers prospects playing in NCAA Tournament

Six of the club’s farmhands are playing in the tourney, which starts Friday and will be televised by ESPN’s sister networks.

There are a half-dozen Flyers prospects playing in this year’s men’s NCAA Tournament, which starts Friday. Here’s a look at each player in chronological order of when their opening game is.

Noah Cates, LW, Minnesota-Duluth

Plays Friday at 4 p.m. on ESPNU

Fifth-round pick in 2017 (137th overall). … Had 5 goals and 13 assists in 26 games. … Bulldogs’ team captain. … Was second-team all-conference on the ice and a Distinguished Scholar Athlete for his work in the classroom. … Wears No. 21.

Cam York, D, Michigan

Plays Friday at 4 p.m. on ESPNU

First-round pick in 2019 (14th overall). … Big Ten’s defensive player of the year. … Had a goal and an assist against Ohio State in the conference quarterfinals. … Wears No. 4.

Gavin Hain, C, North Dakota

Plays Friday at 9:30 p.m., not televised locally

Sixth-round pick in 2018 (174th overall). … Scored in overtime in the semifinals of the NCHC Tournament against Denver. The Fighting Hawks won the championship the next night. … Named to the conference all-academic team. … Had seven goals and three assists in 26 games. … The Fighting Hawks are the NCAA Tournament’s overall top seed. … Wears No. 10.
