Godshall’s Quality Meats now holds the Guinness World Record for the longest piece of turkey bacon.

Under the eyes of Guinness adjudicator Christine Fernandez, Godshall’s made its successful run at the record on June 21, the longest day of the year, at its plant in Lebanon, Pa.

The slice was 17 feet, ¾ inches long by 23 inches wide. It required 127 pounds of turkey to make. There was no previous record. Guinness had set the minimum for the record at 16.6 feet.

Godshall’s said more than two dozen workers created the smoky slice, which was more than 1,000 times larger than a regular slice of turkey bacon. It was wood-smoked for more than six hours in an oven that is more than 25 feet long and 10 feet wide.

“Why do this?” you may ask. Company president Ron Godshall said they decided to go big to build brand awareness during National Turkey Lovers month. Godshall’s, founded in Telford, Montgomery County, in 1945, is America’s third-largest turkey bacon brand.

The winning slice was cut up and added to bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwiches that were served to hundreds of Godshall’s employees and local dignitaries.

Some of the bacon was packaged up for employees to take home and the rest went to Lebanon County Christian Ministries.
