Riesling vinegar adds flavor to soups, salads, even cocktails
Locally made Riesling vinegar is available for sale at Weavers Way Co-Op in Ambler.
This fall, when Weavers Way Co-Op celebrated the one-year anniversary of its location in Ambler, it launched a few special products to commemorate the occasion. Among them was a blend of vinegar made from Riesling.
Similar to the white wine from which it’s made, Riesling vinegar is fruity and floral with a mild sweetness. Keepwell Vinegar of Dover, Pa., which uses only ingredients sourced directly from farmers in the Mid-Atlantic, created the condiment exclusively for Weavers.
The vinegar, available only at the Ambler location, is versatile. It can be tossed over greens and cheese as a light dressing, dashed into a soup to add a hint of brightness, or served alongside oil and bread for dipping. It can even be added to liquor like tequila or mezcal to act as a balancing agent, or mixed with gin, lemon juice, and St. Germain for a fresh cocktail.
