⚾ Who’s out at the Bank? | Sports Daily Newsletter
And Lauren Hart’s mom used to do what?

A few weeks ago, we dropped our annual Stay or Go: Phillies Edition, and scores of readers weighed in on every position on who remains in pinstripes next season and who the team can send packing.
Well, the results are in, and we compiled them into an interactive look at whose value in the eyes of our readers has increased, stayed flat, or took a hit after a season that came to another all-too-abrupt conclusion.
Taking a peek, I think you’ll be surprised at where names like Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber landed on this list. At the same time, if you’ll allow a bit of a spoiler alert, it’s really nice to see the unwavering support for Schwarber.
If you submitted your thoughts on the team’s roster, thanks. Today, you can see how the rest of readers like you rendered their decision.

Former Eagles quarterback Mike Boryla doesn’t know Jalen Hurts. But he says he can sympathize with the injured Birds quarterback. Even though Boryla doesn’t watch football anymore, when he heard about the severity of Hurts’ injury, it brought him back to a time when concussions, three, in fact, gave him the same level of anguish.
His advice to Hurts was simple: “I’d say [to Jalen] that at some point, you’re going to have to have another career, because you’re so young,” Boryla said. “You’ve got plenty of years left after football.”
Inquirer writer Alex Coffey sat down with Boryla to discuss football and life after it.

Earlier this month, Sixers trio Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown, and VJ Edgecombe made a cameo appearance in ABC’s hit sitcom, Abbott Elementary. But of the three, the show’s creator and West Philly native Quinta Brunson suggested that acting wouldn’t be the worst thing for Maxey to consider in his post-basketball career.
“Tyrese is so charming, you guys,” Brunson said of Maxey during a late-night appearance on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers. “He’s probably going to go on to great things in the SportsCenter space.”
Mike Livingston has more from Brunson’s appearance, in which she offered her thoughts on Edgecombe and Brown as well.
Ignore the Flyers’ rough start over the course of a week or two. Matvei Michkov is, and instead is looking to work his skills as well as his physique, one in which he claims to have lost around 29 pounds heading into this season.

“‘Fun’ is the word that Sixers coach Nick Nurse used to describe the weeks leading up to his team’s 106-100 season-opening win over the Knicks on Tuesday night. It was a fitting word, and one that we tend to lose our grip on when we talk about the potential of these Sixers and ponder their ability to reach it. Championships are great, and their success or failure in their quest for one will be their final judgment. But one thing that Game No. 1 of 82 showed us is that, no matter what happens, they sure are going to be fun.” — In his latest column, David Murphy makes the point that this Sixers unit that looks like a contender in the Eastern Conference.

What you’re saying about the Sixers
We asked: What did you think of Tuesday’s Sixers opener?
Playoff-style basketball. Great game. This year should be interesting.— Nick B.
“To whom much is given, much is expected.” Any win in New York against the Knicks is a good one, but given who the Sixers are now it will be hard for the fans to not expect more. Maxey did not hesitate to take the lead, and that is good. This is the Sixers’ first official game together and not a bad start. If Nick Nurse can manage these guys like Alex Hannum did the 1967 Sixers, all will be well. — Everett S.

Enjoy today, Philly. Tonight, LeBron is facing Cleveland, his hometown team, in his new town. Considering a ticket to the show is groceries for a week, I, for one, will be glued to the television for this one. Back tomorrow, however, to talk it through with all of you. Until then, take care. — Kerith
