“He was instrumental in the healing process for so many veterans that it is hard to fathom the reach of his influence,” a colleague said in a tribute.

"He dressed every spangly woman in show business," author Frank Caro said.

He said in a documentary: “I think that my entire motivation and execution and philosophy can be two words: ‘Hey, look.’”

She grew up in New York, lived in Swarthmore and Philadelphia for more than 50 years, and taught a variety of classes at Temple from 1974 to her retirement in 2011.

He earned the nickname Hit Machine for collecting a record 3,085 of them in a long career than stretched from the late 1950s to the early ’80s.

At Rutgers, she mentored hundreds of doctoral students regarding academic requirements and clinical procedures, and supervised a community mental health clinic.

Prolific writer and veteran teacher Bennett Fairorth was looking forward to a 100th birthday party with former students, his brother said.
