Fire damages Germantown center for disabled
Inquirer staff report:
A fire that apparenlty started in a Dumpster jumped through a window into a community center that serves the disabled in Germantown this morning, badly damaging the facility, officials said.
The blaze at the JEVS Community Collaborative, on the 5500 block of Wayne Avenue, was reported about 3 a.m. and quickly spread through a drop ceiling, said Fire Deputy Chief Tom Garrity.
The center provides a range of day services to disabled adults, according to the JEVS website.
No injuries were reported in the fire, which was declared under control.
Fire marshals are investigating.
