Taking advantage of a double truck opportunity available to photographers every month or so in the weekend edition of our tabloid sister paper, the Daily News, I set out one day this past week to look for signs of Spring (it arrived at 12:30 a.m. EDT this morning).

The best part was meeting Mary, weeding under her ancient cherry tree (not blooming yet), planted the year she and her husband moved into the brand new house he built in the Earlton neighborhood of Cherry Hill , N.J. (before they changed the town's name from its original "Delaware Township" in 1961). Lately it seems anytime I'm photographing someone and recall the year of a recent local historic event I covered, they invaribly say, "wow,  that was the year I was born." This time is was my turn. Mary and her husband moved into their house in 1956.
