Reading Fightin' Phils to wear Whoopie Pie-themed jerseys on Aug. 7

The Reading Fightin' Phils are set to join the party of minor-league baseball teams designing crazy jerseys.

The Reading Fightin' Phils will wear crazily designed jerseys for their annual morning game this season.

On Aug. 7, the Phillies' double-A affiliate will put on Whoopie Pie-themed uniforms and will name themselves the Reading Whoopies for the day.

That game is special for the team, as it's the Phils' annual Morning Game, with first pitch set for 9:35 a.m. The opponent will be the Akron Rubber Ducks.

Crazy-themed jerseys for minor-league baseball teams are nothing new, of course, as Phillies fans know well. The Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the Phils' triple-A affiliate, have worn bacon-themed jerseys and cheesesteak-themed jerseys in recent years.
