Despite reports, Ingram still hopeful about Sixers

NEW YORK – Former Duke small forward Brandon Ingram was always the candidate opposite Ben Simmons to become the 76ers first overall pick in Thursday night's NBA Draft at the Barclays Center.

Ingram said Wednesday that the Sixers haven't informed him that they are selecting Simmons. However, according to several reports, the Sixers promised Simmons they would do just that..

"When I left the Sixers workout [on June 13], they told me not to listen to everybody," Ingram said. "So I'm just listening to them. I don't really read the reports that come out about anything else."

The 6-foot-9, 190-pounder won't last on the board long. The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to use the second overall pick on Ingram.
