Gayle restaurant space is rented
Lucas Manteca, now chef at the shore, promises Hoof & Fin, a rustic experience for Queen Village.
Argentina-born chef Lucas Manteca, who has a wide culinary resume from Costa Rica to the Ebbitt Room at the Virginia Hotel in Cape May and his own places (Sea Salt and Quahog's Seafood Shack in Stone Harbor), is coming to Philly with a BYOB.
He's going into 617 S. Third St., the spot in Queen Village that most recently was Gayle and previously was Azafran.
Name: Hoof & Fin.
He says the menu will be grilled (meat and fish) and rustic and priced for the neighborhood. Most entrees: $16 to $22.
He's aiming for the first week of February.
He'll maintain his interest in Quahog's and will remain chef at Ebbitt Room. He's partnered with his wife, Deanna Ebner, and chef Carlos Barroz.
