Art gallery opening
The Art Gallery at Gloucester County College, in the College Center on Tanyard Road in Deptford, just off Exit 56 of Route 55, launches its May exhibit, a display of the works of the Gloucester County Art League, which promotes an interest in the artistic accomplishments of its members through exhibitions and special events throughout South Jersey. Its members work in all types of art. The exhibit also features designs in fiber by Trio Creations, Vietnamese woodcut prints, and a concert by the Adelante jazz band. The exhibits runs until June 6, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Stroke alert day
Kennedy Health System will provide blood-pressure screenings and stroke-risk assessments in honor of National Stroke Alert Day. Stroke is the third-leading cause of death and a leading cause of severe, long-term disability. Many people are unaware they are at risk. Screenings will take 10 minutes. They will be held in three locations: Kennedy-Cherry Hill, 2201 Chapel Ave. West; Kennedy-Stratford, 19 E. Laurel Rd.; and Kennedy-Washington Township, 435 Hurffville-Cross Keys Rd. Pregnancy back pain relief
If you're pregnant, you might know all too well that the happiest time in your life could be the most uncomfortable. If you suffer from sciatic back pain, you can learn about treatment options at a seminar sponsored by the Kennedy Health System, "Do You Have Back Pain with Your Pregnancy?" Come to Paradise Lake Campground, 200 Paradise Dr., Hammonton, for Camp Jam Friday and Saturday. Sounds of Blue Number Nine will fill the air on Friday, joined by the Amity Front, the Billy D. Light Trio and Tweener – Bob Beach. Beach has been singing and playing harmonica and flute professionally for more than 30 years. Mother's Day Tea
The friends of the West Deptford Free Public Library, 420 Crown Point Rd. plans a Mother's Day Tea. The party is for women of all ages, children, too.
