Penguins top Flames to extend win streak to seven

Sidney Crosby scored his 20th goal of the season Saturday, helping the host Pittsburgh Penguins win a season-high seventh straight game with a 4-3 victory over the Calgary Flames.

Andy Greene scored 43 seconds into overtime; Marek Zidlicky had two goals; and the New Jersey Devils rallied past the host Washington Capitals, 5-4.

Alex Ovechkin scored his 30th goal for Washington.

Ryan Getzlaf scored three goals, and the visiting Anaheim Ducks rallied for their eighth straight win, beating the New York Islanders, 5-3. Down by 3-1, the Ducks scored four times in the third period.

Daniel Alfredsson scored the shootout winner for Detroit in the Red Wings' 5-4 victory over the host Toronto Maple Leafs in a Winter Classic preview.

The Red Wings had lost 11 straight shootouts, six this season.

David Desharnais scored at 1:43 of overtime to give the visiting Montreal Canadiens a 4-3 victory over the Nashville Predators.

David Krejci snapped a tie and set up Milan Lucic's goal as the host Boston Bruins earned a split of a two-game set with a 4-1 victory.

Antoine Vermette completed a hat trick at 2:23 of overtime to give the Phoenix Coyotes a 4-3 victory over the host Ottawa Senators.

Martin Jones made 23 saves and stopped all three shots in the shootout to become the second goalie in NHL history to win each of his first eight games as the host Los Angeles Kings beat the Colorado Avalanche, 3-2.

The only other goalie to win his first eight games was the Flyers' Bob Froese in 1982-83.
