Bensalem hires new school superintendent with Bucks experience
BENSALEM Bensalem has poached the superintendent of neighboring Bristol Township, Samuel Lee.
The Bensalem resident, who has helmed Bristol Township's schools since 2010, was hired Tuesday night with a unanimous vote by the Bensalem school board.
No starting date has been announced for Lee, although he is to be in place by September, said Bensalem School District spokeswoman Susan Phy. Lee's starting pay will be $178,000 under a five-year contract.
The Bristol Township district said it would immediately start its search for a new superintendent.
"The search for Dr. Lee's replacement will be deliberate, exhaustive, and focused on the continued advancement of Bristol Township schools," the school board said in a statement. "Knowing we have a skilled and capable team to work with during this transition will allow us to conduct a thorough search and make the process as seamless as possible for all involved. A decision need not, and will not, be made in haste." - Ben Finley
