The two-lane concrete span, crossing Plymouth Creek between Butler and Germantown Pikes, had served an average of 15,660 vehicles a day, according to state Department of Transportation data.
PennDot determined the damage was too severe to repair, and expedited a $2.2 million contract to replace the bridge and stabilize the creek bed to prevent future structural problems.
