Two people were killed and four others injured early Sunday in a three-vehicle accident caused by a car going the wrong way on Route 1 in Falls Township, police said.
The crash occurred about 2 a.m. Sunday when a car driven by David Sochalski, 30, in the southbound lanes was rammed head on by a northbound vehicle that had Alexander Skroumbelos, 35, behind the wheel, police said.
One of the vehicles went over the concrete barrier on impact and was hit by third car.
Sochalski and his front seat passenger, Carmen Cedeno, 42, both from Bensalem were killed in the crash, police said. A backseat passenger, Luis Menendez, 44, also of Bensalem, was seriously injured.
Skroumbelos, of Trenton, taken to St. Mary's Hospital, where he was in critical condition.
The driver of the third car, Youiah Wesseh, 26, and his passenger, Melissa Ferguson, 26, suffered minor injuries.
Police said the investigation was complicated by a confusing accident scene and that they believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
Any witnesses to the accident are asked to call Sgt. Martial Belinsky at 215-949-9100, ext. 315.
