A 5-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was wounded in an apparently unintentional shooting inside an East Germantown home.

A 5-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was wounded in an apparently unintentional shooting inside an East Germantown home.

Philadelphia police said the incident happened about 6:20 p.m. Sunday inside a residence on the 1300 block of East Rittenhouse Street.

The child, who was shot in his left hand, was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in stable condition.

Police said the shooting appeared to be an accident, but said the incident remained under investigation.

Authorities didn't say who fired the weapon, which was recovered at the house.
