Man, 23, dies after being struck by SUV on Roosevelt Boulevard

A 23-year-old man died early Saturday of injuries after he was hit late Friday by an SUV on Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

A 23-year-old man died early Saturday of injuries after he was hit late Friday by an SUV on Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

Police said the preliminary investigation reveals that a 2013 Nissan Rogue SUV was traveling north in the outer lanes of the boulevard at about 11:25 p.m. and had a green light when the man stepped into the Bustleton Avenue intersection and was hit.

The victim was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale Campus, where he was pronounced dead at 12:38 a.m. Saturday. His name was not released.

The 52-year-old female driver stopped at the scene. She was taken to police headquarters for testing on suspicion that she was driving under the influence, police said.

It was not yet known if she will face any charges.
